RELEASE THE SELF-SABOTEUR & WELCOME LOVE
Transforming Self-Sabotage into Self-Compassion

Many of us experience moments when negative or critical inner voices seem to take over. These voices can lead to self-sabotage and feelings of anxiety or depression. The following steps will guide you through a process to quiet these voices and invite love, compassion, and kindness into your life.

Step 1: Keep Your Adult Self Present
Whenever you notice self-sabotage or negative thoughts, consciously call your adult self into the present moment. The critical voices are often the younger parts of yourself surfacing, usually because your adult self has temporarily left due to a challenging situation. One sign that your adult self has checked out is the onset of anxiety or depression. By keeping your adult self-present, you can prevent further self-doubt and declare that these negative thoughts are a thing of the past.

Step 2: Hold a Meeting with Your Gatekeepers
Gather your inner gatekeepers—those parts of yourself that have served to protect you in the past. Let them know you appreciate all they have done for you, but things have changed, and you no longer need their protective services. Symbolically, give them their retirement papers to sign. Visualize them signing these papers and leaving your environment. Remember, if you ever need their help again, you know where to find them. For now, ask them to step aside so you can fill your energy field with compassion, love, kindness, and a sense of self worthiness toward yourself.

Step 3: Repopulate Your Energy Field with Compassion
Once your gatekeepers have stepped aside, focus on inviting compassion, love, and kindness into your life. Be as unwavering in your self-love and compassion as your self-saboteur once was in its criticism. You already possess all the determination you need to succeed—you are simply changing the ingredients and contents of your inner dialogue. With these new tools, you can open doors to greater joy and new opportunities.
